Juventus confident about signing Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo

Serie A giants Juventus are confident about signing Spanish left-back Alex Grimaldo on a free transfer as the player’s contract expires next summer with Portuguese side Benfica.

According to a report from Daniele Longo for Calciomercato, the Bianconeri’s goal will be to reinforce their left-back position which is currently reserved for the Brazilian Alex Sandro. The 31-year-old  is set to leave at the end of the season after completing his contract with Juventus. Due to their current financial situation, Juventus are set to bring in a player without paying a fee and Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo heads the list.

The 27-year-old has proven himself to be industrious on the pitch as he searches for a brighter opportunity elsewhere in Europe and he will not renew his contract with the Águias. Juventus have established positive contacts in recent weeks and they are feeling convinced to close the deal soon.

Serie A counterparts Inter and Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund are also expected to join the race for the bright left-back and this is the reason Juventus are moving in early to secure Grimaldo’s services.
