Juventus remain in touch with Villarreal for Pau Torres move

Juventus and Villarreal have been regularly in touch with each other regarding the Bianconeri’s move for Pau Torres.

La Gazzetta dello Sport‘s Marco Guidi has reported that Kalidou Koulibaly’s move to Chelsea has made Torres Juventus’ top choice to replace Matthijs de Ligt, with Bremer and Gabriel also in the background.

It is stated that last summer, Tottenham had made an offer for the Spaniard and Villarreal were happy with the fee but Spurs’ absence from Champions League football convinced the player into staying at the Yellow Submarines. But the club and the defender now have a friendly pact which suggests that if the right offer arrrives, Torres would leave.

An offer could come from Juve, who have been in regular touch with Villarreal. While the 25-year-old has a release clause of €65 million, Villarreal want €50 million to sell the player. The Bianconeri are currently thinking about figures in the region of €35 million-€40 million and while there’s a distance between the clubs, the player’s entourage have indicated that Villarreal are willing to negotiate.

Torres initially had Manchester United at the top of his wishlist but the English club are set to sign Lisandro Martinez, implying that they would not move for Torres. The Spaniard would like to play for Juve, who were the topic of discussion when the entourage of the defender met Villarreal yesterday.
