La Liga side Sevilla ahead of Napoli for Giovanni Simeone

Hellas Verona have made the signing of Giovanni Simeone permanent. But it is unlikely that he will stay there beyond the summer transfer window.

As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, both Napoli and Sevilla are interested in signing Giovanni Simeone this summer. However, it claims that the Spanish side is ahead of Napoli in the race for the Argentinian forward.

Last season, Simeone joined Verona on a season-long loan and went on to amass 17 goals and five assists from 35 appearances in Serie A.

With the striker proving his worth in front of the goal, the Gialloblu agreed to sign him on a permanent deal from Cagliari for €10.5 million.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio previously, Napoli have identified Simeone as a potential replacement for Andrea Petagna. There was also a mention of the Partenopei being interested in an initial loan plus an obligation to buy worth €15 million.

With Anthony Martial returning to Manchester United after ending his loan with Sevilla, the Spanish club is on the hunt for a new striker ahead of the 2022/23 season. The South American has a contract at Verona until June 2026.
