Lazio defender Luiz Felipe is now one step away from signing a new contract with the Biancocelesti.
La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that the deal is now very close, even though the talks seemed to have stalled earlier and the player seemed close to leaving the club. Talks resumed in the last few days and an agreement seems close.
Lazio have formulated a proposal that the player’s entourage like – even though there can still be a minor difference. The player’s request was (and still is) €2.5 million per year and the Roman club at the beginning offered a figure between €1.6 and €1.8 million (depending on the bonuses). Now the offer of the Roman side has risen to €2.1 million per year, as a fixed amount, to which some bonuses will be added. Thanks to that, the sum of €2.5 million can be reached.
The player will be quick to say ‘yes’ to the deal and even though he can earn more elsewhere, he is really happy in Rome and wants to give back some gratitude to the club. Real Betis are the only club who came forward but it wasn’t an option that the player considered.
