Marseille locked in negotiations with Roma for Jordan Veretout

Roma intend to part ways with Jordan Veretout in this summer transfer window. Ligue 1 club Marseille have shown interest in the French midfielder.

According to transfer market expert Daniele Longo, Marseille continue to negotiate with Roma for the transfer of Jordan Veretout. The report insists that the negotiations are progressing well at the moment.

But it also clarifies that the French club has not made an attempt to sign Justin Kluivert. Last season, Kluivert had a loan spell at Nice, where he garnered six goals and six assists from 31 appearances.

Veretout made 49 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s Roma last season. With the Giallorossi, he also won the Europa Conference League, which was also the first piece of European silverware for Roma.

The signing of Nemanja Matic from Manchester United has pushed Veretout further down the pecking order. And there have also been reports of a breakdown in the relationship between the Roman club and the 29-year-old.

On the other hand, Marseille are in discussion with Hellas Verona to sort out the complexities around the Lazovic-Strootman deal.
