Matthijs de Ligt’s agent: “He is not badmouthing Juventus”

Matthijs de Ligt joined Bayern Munich after leaving Juventus in the last summer transfer window. Since moving away from the Italian club, the Dutchman has made several comments, questioning Juve’s defensive style of play under Massimiliano Allegri, which has not been received in good faith by the Juventus supporters.

In an exclusive interview with Tuttosport, the Dutch defender’s agent Rafaela Pimenta opined that De Ligt had no ill intentions while making those comments. She said:

“I am not convinced that he (de Ligt) speaks ill of Juventus, I think Matthijs does a lot of self-analysis and is very self-critical. When I met Matthijs, he was 18 years old and didn’t have a credit card or a wallet. On the other hand, he always had a book with him, and he would read biographies excessively.

“He always thinks about football and thinks about what he does. So I think he is not badmouthing Juventus, a club where he got on very well, but he is making an analysis of what went wrong in recent years and expressing it without filters as he does. He is a very transparent guy. We should understand what kind of questions he is asked, some are perhaps a little mischievous. When he was at Juventus he never spoke ill of the club.”
