Milan Boss Pioli Ahead of Chelsea Clash: “We want to prove that the defeat was just a case, not normality”

With Milan set to take on Chelsea at the San Siro in match-week four of the Champions League, the Rossonerri boss Pioli previewed the mouth-watering fixture in a press conference earlier this afternoon.

Within the previous fixture, it was the Premier League giants who got the best of Pioli’s men as the London Blues managed to seal a 3-0 victory at the Stamford Bridge, following a marvellous performance from the English full-back Reece James as he managed to notch a goal and an assist along the flanks.

Despite the frustrating result on the road, Pioli explained to the media, reported by Milannews, that his side seeks to showcase a contrary and more positive display in the reverse fixture in front of their supporters:

“It’s fantastic to play in front of our fans, they give us great support, they are an extra weapon for us.We want to prove that the defeat was just a case, not normality. We were disappointed with the performance in London.  We must learn from our mistakes and do better.”

In addition, the Italian tactician ruled out the Belgian play-maker Charles De Ketelaere out of the significant fixture due to a muscular injury:

“Charles has had a muscle issue, tomorrow he won’t be available and it’s hard to see him back on Sunday; Messias will be called up against Chelsea.

“We need a high-level performance against a strong team. We should not be worried, tomorrow is another match and we must try to be at our level.”

As it stands, Milan are currently level on points with Chelsea for second place within Group E with a total of four points, only one point behind the group-leaers Red Bull Salzburg.
