Milan determined to renew Rafael Leao’s contract until 2027

Premier League club Chelsea tried to lure Rafael Leao away from Milan in the summer transfer window. But the player insists on staying in Italy for the long term.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan remain determined in their attempt to renew Rafael Leao’s current terms, which will expire in June 2024. The report claims that Milan will look to extend his contract until June 2027.

While the club has not made any progress despite negotiating on terms with the entourage of the Portuguese winger for a long time, the coming weeks could be crucial to understand if there is a hint of progress in the deal.

Leao’s entourage expects Milan to pay Sporting CP a figure of around €9 million to compensate for the dispute concerning Leao, the Portuguese club, and Lille. The Rossoneri management intends to extend the player’s contract before it reaches the next summer transfer window.

His agent Jorge Mendes is looking for a wage of around €7 million net per season for five years. Thanks to the benefit of the Growth Decree, the complete operation could cost the Italian club a gross amount of €10.5 million. It is also understood that getting Leao to pen a renewal would not be easy and quick at all.
