Milan edge close to Botman after player rejects Newcastle United

Milan are now edging closer to signing Lille’s Sven Botman, who has now said ‘no’ to an approach from Newcastle United.

Daniele Longo has reported that Milan’s work on the Botman front is leading to positive developments and decisive steps are being taken. There is already an agreement on personal terms and the player has agreed to earn €3 million plus bonuses on a five-year deal at Milan. Because of the Growth Decree regulations, the salary will weigh only €5 million gross on the coffers of the club.

There is optimism at the club that a deal will be done soon and an agreement with Lille will be reached. Ricky Massara and Paolo Maldini want to close the deal at around €30 million plus bonuses.

In recent days, Newcastle did make an attempt to convince the player but the Dutchman rejected the chance to join them. Botman has already talked to Mike Maignan about his wishes to join Milan and barring unforeseen circumstances, he will join him at San Siro.
