Napoli man closing in on club exit amidst transfer development

Napoli are close to signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the summer, leaving Napoli star Hirving Lozano at the periphery of the club.

In Wednesday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, it has been reported that Lozano could leave Napoli following the arrival of Kvaratskhelia.

As reported earlier, the Georgian winger is on the brink of signing a contract with the Naples-based side

Lozano joined Napoli from PSV Eindhoven for a reported transfer fee of €35million in 2019. But since joining the Italian side, the Mexican has failed to fulfil his potential. The report believes that he was signed as a long-term replacement for Lorenzo Insigne.

However, the 26-year-old has not gained his manager’s confidence at Napoli. With Insigne leaving Napoli and joining Toronto this summer, it should be Lozano replacing the Italian star, as the report claims. But Napoli’s determination to get Kvaratskhelia on board has made it clear to Lozano that he is not regarded as a long-term option at Naples.

Once reported to be a transfer target for Manchester United and Real Madrid, the Mexican is also considering moving on to pastures new. Last November, he told Mexican TV Azteca Deportes, “The truth is that I would like to go and play in another club, bigger.”
