Roma closing in on a transfer for Arsenal’s Héctor Bellerín

Following his one-year loan spell at Real Betis, Héctor Bellerín has returned to Arsenal. But his imminent future reportedly lies far from London.

A report from La Repubblica understands that Jose Mourinho has identified Héctor Bellerín as a suitable deputy for Rick Karsdorp. The Giallorossi management has also made contact with the entourage of the player.

The report claims that an agreement over a potential transfer is getting closer and closer. However, Roma have not begun discussing the deal’s valuation with Arsenal yet as they want to understand Bellerín’s preference and agree upon personal terms with the player at first.

As per the report, the 27-year-old likes the idea of playing in Italy and for a team, managed by Jose Mourinho. Bellerín has a contract at Arsenal until June 2023, meaning that the summer of 2022 will provide the Premier League club with a final chance to accumulate a meaningful sum from the player’s sale.

The Spaniard played his 2021/22 season with Real Betis in Spain. Making 32 appearances for the Spanish side, he also lifted the coveted Copa del Rey title for Los Verdiblancos.

At the end of his season-long loan spell, the full-back has made his comeback to Arsenal, his parent club. But it is unlikely that he will stay there beyond the approaching summer transfer window as talks regarding a move away from London are underway, with Roma now emerging as a favourite in the transfer race.
