Roma had their first taste of European silverware last season, with the Giallorossi, led by Jose Mourinho, winning the Europa Conference League to finish their 2021/22 season on a high note.
The expectations among the Roman fans have heightened following Mourinho’s first season in the Italian capital. Speaking to SportMeddiaset, Roma defender Roger Ibañez discussed the relationship between him and the Portuguese and their collective ambition to lift the Scudetto.
As quoted by Alfredo Pedullà, the 23-year-old Brazilian defender said:
“Mourinho is both bad and good which is important. He has always been good to me and I thank him a lot. We’ll fight for the Scudetto, we’ll always do our best to get up there in the table.”
Roma have made a decent start to the season, with four wins from seven Serie A games keeping them four points shy of the top of the points table.
Although the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager has shot down the possibility of the Giallorossi being a Scudetto aspirant on multiple occasions this season, it is evident that Mourinho often thinks about charging for the coveted title.
