Roma manager Jose Mourinho: “I don’t have players I would always want with me”

Roma manager Jose Mourinho sat with La Gazzetta dello Sport to discuss his time in Italy. Among many questions, the former Manchester United boss was asked about his former players such as Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira, Frank Lampard, John Terry, and Petr Čech and whether the Portuguese would like to get them back in his team at Roma.

Mourinho, being as blatant as he has always been, answered:

“I don’t have players I would always want with me. I’m fond of everyone I’ve had under my command, not just a few.”

On the topic of winning it all with Roma, the Premier League champion with Chelsea opined:

“I will try with all my might.”

Last season, Mourinho led Roma to their first European glory as the Giallorossi won the UEFA Europa Conference League by beating Feyenoord in Albania.

Since the start of the new campaign, Roma, despite being lacklustre in certain areas, have accumulated 13 points from seven matches in Serie A. Currently standing sixth on the points table, Roma are widely considered a dark horse in the title race for the 2022/23 season.
