Roma Skipper Pellegrini Unlikely to Feature in Lecce Fixture

With Roma set to host newly-promoted side Lecce at the Stadio Olimpico in match-week nine of the Serie A, it seems like Mourinho is thin of options within the midfield as the Giallorossi midfielder Lorenzo Pellergini is unlikely to feature in the clash against the Gialloblu.

After having suffered a muscular strain in Roma’s 2-1 victory over Inter at the San Siro, the 26 year-old central midfielder was forced on the sidelines within the capital club’s midweek match against Spanish outfit Real Betis within the Europa League.

As reported by Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport, Mourinho shows no intent of risking to aggravate Pellegrini’s injury, allowing the Italian international to rest and potentially resume action on the pitch in the reverse fixture against Pellegrini’s squad within the Europa League.

So far this season, Pellegrini has managed to find a fine run of consistency as the Giallorossi captain tallied three assists in eight appearances within the Serie A.

With Mourinho missing one of his most valuable assets within the central area of the pitch, it remains to be seen how the Portuguese tactician will shuffle the drawing board in order to cope with the current circumstances.
