Romelu Lukaku remains a doubt for Inter’s game against Salernitana

On loan from Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku has made a slow start since re-joining Inter. While injuries have certainly played part in it, the long recovery time taken by the player has not helped the situation, either.

And now, according to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku might not return to action against Salernitana on Sunday, with Simone Inzaghi being reluctant to rush him back from the injury.

The report suggests that the Belgian striker trained well on Thursday and is expected to regain his fitness on Friday. But the general feeling around the club is indicating that he might not be called up for the weekend’s game against Salernitana but could be introduced back to the team on October 22, when the Nerazzurri host Fiorentina in a Serie A encounter.

It is understood that Inzaghi might allow Lukaku to undergo an extra week of training before relaunching him in a competitive affair. However, the final decision will be taken after the discussions between the manager, the club doctors, and the player. Under the supervision of his personal physiotherapist, Lukaku is doing everything to make his return as soon as possible.
