Serbia coach Dragan Stojković: “Sergej is the midfielder Juventus is missing”

Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and several other top clubs in Europe have taken part in multiple unfruitful pursuits of Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić over recent years.

While speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Serbia head coach Dragan Stojković claimed that Milinković-Savić would be perfect for Juventus. He said:

“Yes, Sergej is the midfielder Juventus is missing. He would be a great coup for the Bianconeri. But I am a coach, not a manager. I am relatively interested in where he will play in the future. Milinkovic-Savic is a superstar. At Lazio, Juve or another club, he would still be a starter for Serbia.”

A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport recently claimed that Juventus would make an ambitious offer to sign the Serbia international in the upcoming January transfer window.

However, Lazio president Claudio Lotito denied those claims and declared that it would now take €120 million to sign the midfielder. ‎

Reacting to Lotito’s comments, the player’s agent Mateja Kezman said:

“Sergej has just 18 months left on his contract. We will have to discuss his situation with Lazio after the World Cup.”
