Andrea Pirlo on Juventus’ Nicolo Fagioli: “He could be the next Pirlo”

Former Juventus midfielder manager Andrea Pirlo has praised Bianconeri starlet Nicolo Fagioli, saying that he can become the new Pirlo by making a name for himself.

Fagioli had spent the previous season on loan at Cremonese and helped them earn promotion to the Serie A. He became part of the Bianconeri side initially due to a number of injuries in midfield. He has now become a regular in the side, impressing Max Allegri and he seems to have a bright future at the club.

Pirlo, currently managing Fatih KaragĂĽmrĂĽk in Turkey, spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview and he touched upon various topics. One of them was Fagioli.

The Italian was asked about players in the country that remind him of himself. He said: “Locatelli is growing. The biggest leap was made by Fagioli, who made his debut with me.”

He elaborated and said: “He knows how to do everything and is a cornerstone of Juve and has the qualities to excel in directing play. He could be the new Pirlo, but better remembered as Fagioli.”

Pirlo also revealed that if given the chance, he would return to the Old Lady and he wouldn’t be able to turn down the chance. He spoke about his relations with the club and said:

“Good. I hear from some of the remaining managers and I also saw Andrea Agnelli. Mutual esteem remains, it will be another thing if plans have changed.”

He stated that he would be gladly come back, if offered a chance: “Sure. If a top club like Juve calls you.”

Usually a man of a few words, Pirlo also stated that he has no regrets about getting the sack at the club during his time as manager as results decide the fate of managers.
