Aston Villa star Nicolo Zaniolo had a meeting with the Prosecutor today as part of the illegal betting case.
Zanioloโs name had cropped in the betting case when Fabrizio Corona mentioned the Villa playerโs name. But Nicolo Fagioliโs confession confirmed that Zaniolo was indeed involved in some capacity.
But the ex-Roma man denied any involvement in illegal betting, stating that he was only involved in playing blackjack and poker illegally.
Sky Italia state that Zanioloโs meeting with Prosecutor Manuela Pedretta has now ended. It lasted about three years after Zaniolo had arrived at the headquarters at 2:30pm earlier today. The likelihood is that Zaniolo stuck with the narrative that his involvement didnโt go beyond playing blackjack and poker illegally.
If that does end up being true, Zaniolo will only be at risk of a financial fine. If it is proved that he was involved in betting on football matches, he would be at risk of a suspension, which could be in line with what was handed to Sandro Tonali and Fagioli.
