Cristiano Guintoli set to stay at Napoli despite Juventus interest

Napoli sporting director Cristiano Guintoli seems set to stay at the Partenopei for atleast another season, despite interest from other clubs.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported this morning that Juventus are one of the clubs interested in the Partenopei sporting director because of how he has revolutionised Napoli, who are on the brink of winning the Scudetto under Luciano Spalletti.

His current deal at Napoli expires in the summer of 2024 and Aurelio de Laurentiis is said to be a keen believer in the idea of contracts. Guintoli knows that and that is why his focus is now on the summer transfer window, which will see Napoli look for midfield signings to replace Piotr Zielinski and even Tanguy Ndombele, who will not be signed permanently from Tottenham.

As for Zielinski, it does not seem as if Napoli can afford to hand him an improved deal at the club because of their ceiling on wages. There is quite a high expectation that the Pole will leave the club this summer.

But when it comes to Guintoli, he should stay at the club till the last year of his deal and if Juventus do want him, they would have to make an offer as soon as possible.
