Everton made late attempt for Milan’s Olivier Giroud

Premier League side Everton had made a late attempt to sign Milan striker Olivier Giroud on deadline day.

Sky Italia state that with Giroud’s contract at Milan runs out in the summer of 2023 and talks are already in progress to extend the deal, the Toffees came forward and made a last ditch attempt to sign the Frenchman. They offered an initial wage of €3.5 million per season until the end of the campaign for the player but Milan and the player rejected the attempt immediately.

Giroud was promised a massive wage upgrade from the next season onwards and he would have earned €8.4 million per season. Milan rejected the approach without even starting negotiations as a sale was out of the question.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea man has been vital for Milan since joining the club and this season, he has contributed to 16 goals in 26 games in all competitions.
