Frenchman Benjamin Pavard expected to make Inter debut against Real Sociedad

With Inter set to face Spanish outfits Real Sociedad in their opening fixture of the Champions Leaugue this evening, Simone Inzaghi is prepared to hand Frenchman Benjamin Pavard his highly anticipated Nerazzurri debut.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the former Bayern Munich defender is expected to feature in the starting eleven to the right of the back-three, in favour of Italian defender Matteo Darmian.

Since touching down on Milanese soil following his €30m transfer from the Bundesliga giants, the 27-year-old has yet to make an appearance for the Beneamata.

Given Pavard’s pace and fine ability to play progressive football when building out of the back, it seems that the 2018 World Cup winner’s profile is better tailored for the match-up than Darmian.

In addition, the Milanese journal also adds that Albanian youngster Kristjan Asllani is set to make his first start of the 2022-23 term in order to fill the void within the holding-midfield position as a result of Hakan Calhanoglu being held at bay due to a thigh injury.

Following a perfect start in the domestic campaign with four wins out of four thus far, last years Champions League finalists seek to continue their magnificent run of form and make a statement that they are in deed major contenders at the continental level.
