Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson suspended by Iceland over sexual midconduct case

Genoa star Albert Gudmundsson has been suspended by the Iceland FA after a case of sexual misconduct emerged agaisnt the forward.

Gudmundsson featured for Genoa in their recent Serie A clash against Fiorentina, as the Rossoblu lost 4-1 to La Viola. La Repubblica have reported that the 26-year-old has been suspended by the Iceland FA after a sexual misconduct charge emerged against him and the FA were handed the report only recently.

The suspension is said to be ‘precautionary’ and has been confirmed by Vanda Sigurgeirsdóttir, president of KSÍ (Football Association of Iceland). The forward will not be called up by the national team till the investigation in the case is concluded.

La Repubblica further state that the 26-year-old, who is married and has two children, has already had contact with Genoa and has denied all the charges against him. The Rossoblu management has not issued any comments about the matter, with the player expected to feature for them as normal.
