Pep Guardiola: “Napoli are the strongest team in Europe right now”

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola showed nothing but respect to Serie A teams ahead of Champions League’s draw, as he stated in an interview for Sky Sport.

“Napoli is probably one of the strongest team in Europe in terms of playing style, they have similarities with Arsenal. And then Milan and Inter are back. I’m really pleased”.

Manchester City have knocked out RB Leipzig by winning 7-0 the second leg as Erling Haaland scored five goals in the match. In the quarter finals they could be paired with an Italian team.

Guardiola had a history in Serie A and in Italy as he played with Brescia and Roma between 2001 and 2003 scoring three goals in 28 appearances in the league.

Asked about a possible comeback, Guardiola replied: “I’ll be in Italy for holidays. I’ve lived there for two years and I still have many friends there, especially in Brescia”.

Brescia is also Roberto De Zerbi’s hometown and Guardiola praised now Brighton’s coach for his job: “He’s changing a lot of things in English football, his football is marvellous. People say it was impossibile for him to do it in England but he’s doing it”.
