Inter break new record in Champions League win over Milan

Inter might already have one foot in the Champions League semi-final after their 2-0 win over Milan in the first leg of the semi-final of the competition, but the Nerazzurri have also created history.

Simone Inzaghi’s side have beaten Milan thrice in the same season now, having played against them as many as four times this season. Milan did win the first game of the season by a 3-2 scoreline but Inter won the Supercoppa Italiana final by a dominating 3-0 scoreline before beating them 1-0 in the Serie A. Today’s 2-0 win means that they have not just beaten Milan thrice but have kept three cleansheets against them too.

As per Opta, this is only the third time in history that Inter have beaten Milan thrice in the same season. The last time it happened was back in the 1994/95 season and it also happened back in the 1973/74 campaign.

Another win in the second leg could break further records, especially if Inter manage to keep a cleansheet.
