Inter coach Simone Inzaghi ahead of Fiorentina match: “Fiorentina are an excellent team and we know it”

Ahead of the Nerazzurri’s significant clash against Fiorentina at the Stadio San Siro tomorrow evening, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi provided his perspective of the match-up in the pre-match presser.

Despite undergoing a handful of changes within the summer market after losing key players such as Marcelo Brozovic, Milan Skriniar, and Andre Onana, the Beneamata held their ground as they managed to secure six points within their first two matches of the new term.

A brace from Argentine Lautaro Martinez enabled Inter to collect a 2-0 victory against Monza within their home-opener, as well as a stellar performance from his partner up-top Marcus Thuram to ease Inzaghi’s side past Cagliari as they scored two past the Rossoblu away from home.

Following an impressive start, Inter prepare to face a notable test against Italiano’s side as La Viola managed to tally five goals within their first two fixtures, proving to be ruthless in the final third of the pitch.

Whilst Fiorentina currently sit in fifth with a total of four points, La Viola are determined to stun the Biscione in order to cover ground within the race for the Scudetto.

As relayed by Milanese journal La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inzaghi previewed the blockbuster against La Viola, emphasizing that Fiorentina should not be taken lightly as opponents:

“They are an excellent team and we know it, they are very well trained and have excellent players. In recent years we have faced them several times and they have always been difficult matches for this reason the initial approach will be fundamental. Both we and Fiorentina use the flanks a lot, so the wingers will be very busy and we’ll have to be good at covering the pitch in the best way: Fiorentina are very good at occupying every area of the pitch.”

In addition, the Italian tactician described how he felt regarding Inter’s superb start to the season:

“We started with great determination, the boys were very good. Two games have passed and tomorrow we have another very important one: we will have the same determination in every game and for every opponent. The guys have been working well for 50 days on many aspects that we need to improve, we are very satisfied because we see every day that the players try to follow our requests.”

Finally, the gaffer touched upon the drastic changes that have occurred within the squad throughout the transfer window:

“There has been an important change and very important players have left, key men who have done well in this path. However, just as many important players have arrived: some, more experienced, will help the younger players to integrate as quickly as possible”.
