Inter Milan have this evening confirmed that a pair of the clubโs star defenders are primed for respective incoming spells on the sidelines.
The players in question? Denzel Dumfries, and Stefan de Vrij. Both Dumfries and De Vrij were afforded their latest starts this past weekend, as Inter made short work of Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Their contributions, though, came at a cost, as it was revealed post-match that both had picked up fitness concerns. And now, the extent of the two playersโ injuries has been confirmed.
As per an official statement on the part of the Nerazzurri on Tuesday evening:
โStefan De Vrij and Denzel Dumfries underwent medical visits and tests this morning at the Istituto Humanitas in Rozzano, following injuries sustained in Sunday eveningโs game against Napoli.โ
โThey revealed that the Dutch defender has strained the adductor muscles in the left thigh, and a strain in the left thigh flexor muscles for the Dutch winger. The two Nerazzurri players will be re-evaluated next week.โ
An ensuing report by way of Sky Italia points towards both Dumfries and De Vrij being set for around three weeks on the sidelines.
