Inter make progress in contract talks for Lautaro Martinez

Serie A giants Inter are making progress in their attempts to hand Lautaro Martinez a new contract.

Martinez has now become a symbol of the Nerazzurri and has arguably been one of the best strikers in Europe, scoring at a prolific rate for Simone Inzaghi’s side.

La Gazzetta dello Sport state (via TMW) that Martinez has the willingness to lead Inter into the future and the Argentine is essentially keen on making sure that he stays at the club through his career. Talks have now begun and while his current deal runs out in the summer of 2026, the club will try to make sure that the deal extends till the summer of 2028.

Another meeting for a renewal will take place at the end of this month and the likelihood is that the Argentine will go from earning €6 million per season to €8 million per season, which will include bonuses and add-ons. The next meeting with Martinez’s agent Alejandro Camano is expected to be decisive.
