Inter’s Lautaro Martinez glosses over Romelu Lukaku question after Fiorentina win

Lautaro Martinez was in fine form when Inter took on Fiorentina yesterday and he was asked about Romelu Lukaku after the 4-0 win.

Martinez’s new strike partner Marcus Thuram opened the scoring with his first goal for the club, before Martinez struck twice to keep his impressive start to the campaign going. But after the tie, Martinez was asked about his celebration with Thuram and the fact that it mirrors how he used to celebrate with ex-teammate Lukaku.

Martinez, who had publicly spoken about Lukaku’s betrayal to Inter over the summer, stated that he glossed over the question and went on to praise Thuram amidst speculation that he has unfollowed the Belgian on social media.

He told Sky: “Did Thuram imitate my celebration with Lukaku? No, I don’t celebrate like that anymore. Have I unfollowed Lukaku on social media? Thuram is a great player, like Arnautovic and Sanchez and I’m happy to play with them. Did I gloss over the question? Yes.”

Lukaku joined Roma recently and made his debut in a loss to Milan recently, as the Giallorossi’s poor start to the season kept going. Inter meanwhile are flying and are considered to be one of the favourites for the Scudetto this season. The Nerazzurri fans can only hope that the Thuram-Martinez partnership keeps evolving.
