Juventus eye Kalvin Phillips and Teun Koopmeiners as reinforcements in midfield

Juventus have their sights set increasing the quality and depth in the midfield department in order to keep up with the pace of high-flying Inter heading into the latter stages of the season.

Despite the off-field issues regarding Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli, the Bianconeri have managed to remain competitive in the 2023/24 Serie A campaign, as they currently possess 37 points and have suffered a single defeat in 16 games-played, finding themselves trailing the Nerazzurri by only one point.

However, Juventus are well aware that they are quite fragile in the central area of the pitch and that a signing in the winter transfer window is vital in order to continue their stride towards the scudetto.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Bianconeri are still keen on a potential loan deal for Mancheseter City midfield-outcast Kalvin Phillips after having monitored him for several months.  Juventus also have Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners high on their short-list given his experience in the Italian league.

Whilst the two names above are considered the primary targets, Juventus also deem Shaktar’s Georgiy Sudakov, Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone as ideal alternative signings.
