Juventus set to appeal points deduction sentence

Juventus have announced that they will soon appeal the points deduction sentence handed to them by FIGC.

Apart from the points deduction, the personalities that were involved in the capital gains saga have also been handed bans and suspensions.

But the club’s lawyers have now issued a statement, confirming that the club will appeal the sentence once they understand the reasons for the points deductions and bans. The club has pointed towards the difference in treatment from other clubs, refering to it as ‘unequal treatment’ against them in this case.

This is because while a host of other clubs were also being investigated, they have all been acquitted and only Juve have been sentenced.

The club’s statement reads: “Today’s acceptance of the appeal for revocation by the Federal Court of Appeal seems to us to constitute a clear unequal treatment to the detriment of Juventus and its managers compared to any other club or member. We believe that this is a clear injustice also towards millions of fans, who we trust will soon be remedied in the next level of judgement”.

A total of 22 transfers involving Juventus have been under the scanner and this includes high profile deals such as those involving Joao Cancelo, Danilo, Miralem Pjanic, Arthur and Leonardo Bonucci.

It has been stated that the FIGC will issue their reasons in ten days and Juve will then have 30 days to launch their appeal.
