Lautaro Martinez after scoring four v Salernitana: “The important thing is Inter win”

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has spoken out after his heroics in the Serie A clash against Salernitana earlier today.

Inter couldn’t break the deadlock in Salerno before Martinez came on in the 55th minute and the Argentine made a huge impact, scoring four times for the Nerazzurri and making sure that they stayed at the top of the table after Milan’s win over Lazio earlier today.

This was the first time that Martinez has scored four times in the same game for the Nerazzurri, with the Argentine having scored a hat-trick previously against Salernitana, with another coming against Crotone.

Martinez spoke to Inter TV (via TMW) and talked about the game, stating: “We knew we were facing an opponent in difficulty and that he was a warm environment. It was difficult to score, fortunately we managed to break the deadlock. We are happy because we bring home three very important points. What if next time I score five? I don’t think about it, the important thing is that Inter win, the defeat against Sassuolo made us feel bad. We need to help each other and carry on like this. The ball? I’ll take it to my son who was just born, I scored four goals and so I’ll give it to him.”

He also shed some light on the physical aspect of the game, with fixtures now coming thick and fast in European football.

He said: “The physical aspect counts a lot when playing every three days with trips in between. Sometimes we have some physical declines if we don’t play at our best, but we are a great team and we have to refine these aspects too.”

So far this season, Martinez has scored nine goals in seven appearances in the league and has racked up a couple of assists as well.
