Milan boss Stefano Pioli after win over Lazio: “Adli is becoming a starter”

Milan boss Stefano Pioli has come out in praise of resurgent midfielder Yacine Adli, who impressed once again for the Rossoneri against Lazio.

Adli had started for the first time for the club in their previous Serie A clash and he impressed against newly promoted Cagliari, while operating at the base of the midfield amidst multiple injuries in the side. The midfielder started once again for Milan against Lazio and impressed, helping them to a 2-0 win against Maurizio Sarri’s side.

After the game, Milan boss Pioli spoke to DAZN (via TMW) and he revealed that Adli is now edging close to becoming a regular starter for the club.

The Italian said: “I told him it was his first at San Siro, he can be more enterprising, perhaps we could have looked for him more but he is growing a lot. He is becoming one of Milan’s starters, I am happy for him, his growth has been important.”

Milan have now won three games in a row after the disastarous loss to Inter some weeks ago and Pioli has a dilemma on his hands around Olivier Giroud, with Noah Okafor now having scored in two games in a row.

He spoke about whether Giroud can start against Borussia Dortmund and stated: “The more doubts I have, the more it means that I have a lot of choices, it’s important to have strong players on the bench to get the team out of difficult moments. I also have faith in Jovic who has to work to regain his fitness. I saw Dortmund in difficulty with PSG but he has great intensity in front of which he combines physicality. It will be a difficult match, not decisive for the group but important.”

The Rossoneri are now at the top of the table, with Inter to take on Salernitana later.
