Lazio make progress in move for Wilfried Zaha

Serie A outfits Lazio are reportedly closing in on forward Wilfried Zaha and are set to make significant movements in the next few days.

According to a report from Stefano Cieri of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Wilfried Zaha yearns for a new experience away from England following the expiry of his contract with Premier League side Crystal Palace and Lazio are emerging as favourites to sign him.

The 30-year-old went out of contract on 1st July and although the Selhurst Park dwellers are attempting to offer him an extension, the player’s interest lies in developing a new experience elsewhere, preferably in Italy.

Manager Maurizio Sarri has said ‘yes’ to the proceedings of the deal and the Biancocelesti are confident of getting Zaha ahead of Al Nassr or Fenerbahce. The forward’s entourage has met with Lazio representatives recently and discussions regarding salary are yet to be done as he wants a figure of around €10 million a year

Apart from an interlude with Manchester United and Cardiff City, the Ivorian forward spent his entire career with Crystal Palace and became one of their key players in the last decade.
