Leonardo Bonucci trashes rumours of rift with Union Berlin

Former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has trashed rumours of him having a potential rift with current club Union Berlin.

The Italian had joined Union in the summer after he had fallen out with Juventus, who had excluded him from the project at the club. Bonucci’s lawyers had complained about the Bianconeri, who maintained their stance about the player and then sold him to the German club.

But times aren’t going right for the defender, who wasn’t in the squad for the game against Napoli and this led to rumours regarding the veteran having a rift with Union and there was talk of him being set to have talks with manager Urs Fischer.

But Bonucci has taken to Instagram to trash these rumours, stating: “Without being surprised anymore, I once again read invented news about myself. I have constructive discussions with the coach on a daily basis, I was welcomed very well and we all absolutely want to get out of this situation, especially for the fans, extraordinary for their closeness and dedication. I have always respected every coach’s decisions and that was the case yesterday too.”

He further stated:“As I have already had the opportunity to write over time, in a team game the We always comes before the I. The desire to play was unquestionably great but today the individual definitely takes second place compared to the need to defend the team, because in the end these trending news ended up damaging it and not me. Check carefully before speaking, Forza Union!”.

The 36-year-old Bonucci has made five appearances for Union this season but he has been on the bench four times and he was on the bench against Napoli as well, as the German side fell to a 1-0 defeat to the Partenopei.
