Milan have now opened talks to potentially renew goalkeeper Mike Maignanโs contract at the Rossoneri.
Luca Bianchin has reported that renewing Maignanโs contract is a priority for the Rossoneri, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2026. Talks have started between Milan and the playeerโs agents for a renewal and Maignanโs demands have now emerged.
Maignan wants to win silverware and Milan are doing that, he will be a happy man. The second demand is economic. The Frenchmanโs agents have asked for a wage of โฌ8 million to โฌ10 million, which will be in line with some of the best goalkeepers in the world. Thibaut Courtois earns about โฌ7 million at Real Madrid, Gigio Donnarumma earns about โฌ8 million at Paris Saint-Germain and Andre Onana earns about โฌ5.5 million at Manchester United. Maignan believes that he belongs to the same, elite category.
Talks are ongoing between the two parties are ongoing and there are no tensions. Milanโs highest earner currently is Rafael Leao, whose base salary is at โฌ5 million but bonuses take it upto โฌ7 million. And the decision to hand him that wage was a fairly complex one for the club. But Maignan is considered one of the three emblems of the Rossoneri and attempts will be made to smoothen out the discussions.
