Milan open contract renewal talks for Mike Maignan

Milan have now opened talks to potentially renew goalkeeper Mike Maignan’s contract at the Rossoneri.

Luca Bianchin has reported that renewing Maignan’s contract is a priority for the Rossoneri, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2026. Talks have started between Milan and the playeer’s agents for a renewal and Maignan’s demands have now emerged.

Maignan wants to win silverware and Milan are doing that, he will be a happy man. The second demand is economic. The Frenchman’s agents have asked for a wage of €8 million to €10 million, which will be in line with some of the best goalkeepers in the world. Thibaut Courtois earns about €7 million at Real Madrid, Gigio Donnarumma earns about €8 million at Paris Saint-Germain and Andre Onana earns about €5.5 million at Manchester United. Maignan believes that he belongs to the same, elite category.

Talks are ongoing between the two parties are ongoing and there are no tensions. Milan’s highest earner currently is Rafael Leao, whose base salary is at €5 million but bonuses take it upto €7 million. And the decision to hand him that wage was a fairly complex one for the club. But Maignan is considered one of the three emblems of the Rossoneri and attempts will be made to smoothen out the discussions.
