Milan v Tottenham | Ominous Stefano Pioli and Antonio Conte stats ahead of Champions League battle

Milan will host Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the Champions League later today and while both sides are not strangers to facing each other or being at this stage of the competition, it is a rather fresh stage for both Antonio Conte and Stefano Pioli.

In terms of the Milan boss’ record in Europe, Pioli has never gone past the Round of 16 of a European competition in his career. In the Europa League, Pioli could only take Lazio and the Rossoneri to the Round of 16, whereas his Palermo side only made it to the 3rd round of the Europa League back in the 2011/12 season.

While Conte has made it the final of the Europa League as Inter managed to lose to Sevilla in the 2019/20 edition, the ex-Chelsea boss has never made it past the Round of 16 of the Champions League since the 2012/13 season with Juventus. In fact, he has reached the Round of 16 only once since 12/13 and that was with Chelsea in the 2017/18 season.

Spurs and Milan have taken on each other in the Round of 16 of the Champions League back in the 2010/11 season and the Lilywhites had sneaked past the Rossoneri back then by a 1-0 scoreline on aggregate.
