Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimović suffers new injury setback

Zlatan Ibrahimović has suffered a thigh injury and he’ll be ruled out for the next few Milan games, Sky Sport reports.

No official statement so far has been released by Milan but it is believed that it’s not a light injury and that he might miss most of the games scheduled in April.

Ibrahimović got injured while on international duty. He was supposed to play with Sweden against Azerbaijan last Monday but he was ruled out due some discomfort.

Since he come back to Italy, he has not trained with the squad and the exams he underwent in Milan showed a serious situation that will be re-evaluated on a week to week basis to establish the recovery time.

Ibrahimović played his first game of the season in late February after a knee surgery ruled him out for eight months.

He has played four league games and with the only goal he scored, against Udinese before the international break, he became the oldest scorer in Serie A history.

He’ll miss the game against Napoli scheduled for Sunday night and almost certainly the game after against Empoli. He will not have played in Champions League anyway as he was not included by coach Stefano Pioli in the UEFA’s roster.
