With plenty of pressure weighing on his shoulders at the moment, Napoli coach Rudi Garcia is seemingly prepared to make big alterations to his starting eleven heading into the Partenopei’s upcoming fixture against Verona in match-week 9 of the 2023/24 Serie A term.
Since taking over at the helm of last year’s champions as a result of the departure of former Roma and Inter coach Luciano Spalletti, Garcia has struggled immensely as Napoli currently sit in 5th place with a a total of 14 points, conceding nine goals in their opening eight fixtures.
The current Napoli boss has failed to implement the free-flowing attacking play and defensive organization the Azzurri portrayed last season, resulting in them dropping points to the likes of Genoa, Bologna, and Fiorentina most recently in a devastating 3-1 defeat at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradonna.
Questionable tactics and in-game decisions, which involved substituting star forwards Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen when a goal was very much needed, raised immense concerns and caused club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis to hold a meeting with the French tactician regarding his future at the club.
With Garcia currently in the hot seat as his future at Napoli is in doubt, the Partenopei boss is prepared to drop David Meret from the starting lineup in-exchange for 28 year-old Pireluigi Gollini due to his poor performances in-between the sticks, as per TMW.
In addition, Garcia is expected to deploy Mathias Olivera over Mario Rui in the left-back position, as well as Swedish youngster Jens Cajuste in midfield in favour of Elif Elmas.
