Napoli interested in Fabio Cannavaro as Rudi Garcia replacement

Napoli are interested in the possibility of making Fabio Cannavaro their next manager as a replacement for Rudi Garcia.

Garcia’s position at the club was going to be determined by Napoli’s result against Empoli. But the Partenopei lost 1-0, leading to the Frenchman’s position becoming very untenable.

La Gazzetta dello Sport state that the loss could now be Garcia’s last match as Napoli boss and his role is now under consideration, with a sacking seeming like a very likely outcome.

Cannavaro was present in the stands during the game and he is said to have good relations with Aurelio de Laurentiis, who is considering the possibility of hiring the former Italy defender. Another option is Igor Tudor and the factor in his advantage would be that he knows Serie A very well.

Antonio Conte will now not be an option, with the ex-Spurs boss having rejected a chance to join when Garcia’s job seemed to be at risk some weeks ago.
