Napoli make fresh contact for Julian Nagelsmann

Serie A champions Napoli have now made contact for former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann, who also interests Tottenham Hotspur.

Marco Conterio has provided an update on Napoli’s managerial search, stating that while hiring Nagelsmann is a difficult goal to achieve, Aurelio de Laurentiis is trying. Direct contact between the two parties has been made and this is the second contact they have made. The first one was rather exploratory and Napoli understood the details of the exit clause that exists in the German’s Bayern Munich contract.

Talks stopped suddenly as De Laurentiis wanted to pursue a move for Luis Enrique. Now that the attempts for Enrique haven’t led to fruition, Nagelsmann is someone that De Laurentiis is looking to test the waters for.

It is reported that contacts for Thiago Motta and Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano are already underway but Nagelsmann is a symbol of De Laurentiis’ ambition, something which was also reflected in his appointments of both Carlo Ancelotti and Luciano Spalletti himself.
