Luis Enrique’s Napoli move now under doubt

Luis Enrique’s potential move to Napoli is now uncertain as the Spaniard has some doubts about managing the Partenopei.

It was reported yesterday that talks between Napoli and the Spanish manager are now progressing. Alfredo Pedulla has provided an update about the situation today, stating that club CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis has already formalised a major offer for Enrique, who seems to have doubts of a technical nature with the job on offer.

De Laurentiis is willing to offer a wage of €8 million plus €2 million in bonuses to the Spaniard, who fears that they could lose Victor Osimhen and Kim Min-Jae in the summer and they would end up being a weaker side. He is also worried about some of the statements that De Laurentiis has previously made, as he recently stated that Napoli are strong enough to win the Champions League next season.

Enrique believes that this will put an extra amount of pressure on him to perform. As a perfectionist, the ex-Barcelona manager wants a lot of things ironed out. He did open up to Napoli but there is limited conviction and when he isn’t convinced, the ball falls into the court of the chasing clubs. The situation, as things stand, is stagnant.
