Napoli nearing move for Salernitana’s Pasquale Mazzocchi

Reigning Serie A champions Napoli are nearing a move for Salernitana wing-back Pasquale Mazzocchi.

Mazzocchi was linked with a move to Juventus in the summer but he ended up staying at the Salerno-based side, who are struggling this season.

Il Mattino (via CN24) have reported about Napoli’s interest in the Italian, stating that he is seen as a wild card target by the Partenopei for the January transfer window because he can play on either sides. As of now, there is a general basis of an agreement between the two Southern clubs and there is also an agreement over personal terms between the player’s agent and Napoli.

The move can be formalised soon or even in a matter of hours. Walter Sabatini’s lingering presence at the club presents a bit of an obstacle right now and he is one of Mazzocchi’s mentors and he returned to the club recently. While Sabatini does present a hold up in the move, Salernitana see Verona’s Davide Faraoni as a potential replacement.
