Napoli seal move for Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga

Napoli have sealed a move for Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga, amidst interest from a host of other clubs.

The likes of Liverpool and Barcelona were previously linked with a move for the Spaniard but Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Veiga is set to join the Partenopei on a permanent basis.

There is a verbal agreement between the two clubs over a fee, with Celta set to pocket €36 million and add-ons from the deal. Napoli will pay an initial fee of €30 million and bonuses of €6 million, with documents now being readied to finalise the move for the 21-year-old.

It was initially believed that Veiga was going to replace Piotr Zielinski, who seemed close to joining Al Ahli but he has now rejected the chance to head to the Middle East and is likely to stay at the club. It remains to be seen how Veiga is used but he could operate in tandem with Zielinski.
