Napoli managerial target Paulo Sousa’s agent has revealed that he has received requests from multiple clubs in recent weeks.
It was recently reported that many at Salernitana have been left annoyed by Sousa’s recent meeting with Napoli’s Aurelio de Laurentiis, as it came hours after the club confirmed him as the manager next season. Talks are said to be progressing regarding the move.
But to clarify his future, Sousa’s agent has now spoken publicly. He has revealed that his clients has received enquiries from multiple clubs in recent weeks but no offers have formally arrived for the Portuguese so far.
His agent told Gianluca di Marzio: “I have received many requests from other clubs for Paulo in recent weeks and from different countries . This is a normal thing when a job with the quality he has shown comes along, but I have not received any offers.”
His agent Hugo Cajudo concluded : “In recent months, the coach has dedicated every hour of every day to his work with extreme dedication, so now he is enjoying his well-deserved holidays.”
He also revealed that Sousa’s relationship with Salernitana is excellent and he has a good relationship with the club’s higher-ups.Â
“The daily relationship with the sporting director and all his staff is one of great esteem and admiration, and one thing is certain, if one day I receive some official offer to the coach from another team, for respect and consideration, the first people to be informed will be Director Morgan and President Iervolino.”
Sousa has done really well during his time at Salerno, helping the club survive relegation and coaching them into a viable style of play which is bringing the best out of the players.
