Pippo Inzaghi on Simone ahead of Champions League final: “He hasn’t been able to fall asleep”

Simone Inzaghi’s brother – the iconic Pippo Inzaghi, has revealed that the Inter manager hasn’t been able to sleep before the Champions League final against Manchester City.

This is the first time that Simone Inzaghi has reached the Champions League final as a player or as a manager, with his brother having done that multiple times as a Milan forward. But today represents a special moment in Simone’s career, with Inter having already won two trophies this season.

Pippo Inzaghi spoke to Corriere dello Sport (via FCInter) ahead of the final later today and he revealed that his brother has been in touch with him regularly and he hasn’t been able to sleep because of the excitement for the final.

He said: “I know what’s going on in his head, I know he hasn’t been able to fall asleep. We talk three times a day and I heard him excited. I think the Champions League final represents the pinnacle of his career. I had no doubts that he would get there.”

Inter beat Milan rather comfortably in the semi-final to reach this far and today is their first Champions League final since 2010, when they won by beating Bayern Munich in the final. Considering that, it is easy to understand why Inzaghi would be nervous, as they face arguably the best side in the world.
