Salernitana consider re-hiring Davide Nicola hours after his sacking

Serie A side Salernitana are considering bringing back Davide Nicola only days after his sacking as manager.

The Salerno-based outfit had lost 8-2 to Atalanta recently and it was the club’s heaviest defeat in Serie A history. Salernitana then confirmed that they have relieved Nicola from his duties as boss, months after he had helped them survive in the league in sensational circumstances.

Gianluca di Marzio has now reported that even though Nicola was sacked on the 16th, Salernitana are seriously considering bringing him back and essentially replacing Nicola with Nicola himself. Contacts have already been made with the manager, 36 hours after his intial axing.

Salernitana probed the ground for other candidates such as Roberto D’Aversa and Eusebio Di Francesco but no agreement was found. Leonardo Semplici was also in the fray. Onwer Danilo Ievorlino took his time to make a decision and a final decision will be made today morning.
