Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia refusing to return after international break

There seems to be a higher amount of intrigue around the situation of Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia, who is yet to return to the club after the international break.

La Gazzetta dello Sport today state that while Salernitana hope that the matter gets resolved quickly, the player is now in France with his family and through his entourage, Dia has informed Salernitana that he is facing personal family issues. He had used the same reasoning on Monday to delay his arrival at the club. That is when he was fined 15 percent of his monthly salary and his behaviour had changed after the failed move to Wolves.

Salernitana are hoping that Dia returns to the club by the end of the week, as they also have to run a medical test on him after a potential injury he suffered during the international break. They continue to consider Dia to be an important player and are aware of how vital he is for Paulo Sousa’s side.

An intervention by president Danilo Iervolino, who last week announced that he wanted to meet Dia to clarify everything, could help resolve any problems. It remains to be seen even now if Dia is actually facing personal problems or whether this is him expressing annoyance at Salernitana after the failed move to Wolves.
