Sandro Tonali following Milan win: “It was fundamental to close the series of bad friendlies”

Following the Rossonerri’s convincing 2-1 victory over Salernitana, Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali gave his insight on the victory while speaking to the media.

A well-weighted pass from the Italian international into space for Rafael Leao paved the way for the Portuguese winger to dazzle around the keeper and tuck the ball into the back of the net to find the opener within the first ten minutes.

Shortly after, Tonali fired a robust low-driven striker past Ochoa to double Pioli’s side advantage five minutes following their first goal.

Despite the late scare, the Rossonerri secured three vital points, decreasing the gap from Napoli to only five points, making them heavy contenders for the scudetto yet again.

While speaking to Sky Italia, via MilanNews, Tonali touched upon his perspective of Milan as a unit following the hard-fought victory in Salerno:

“We know from last year’s match that playing here is difficult. Especially after taking the 2-1 it was more difficult, we played it all the way and it’s important to come out with a win.”

“We are a strong team, we were almost perfect because we could have scored 1-2 more goals to win more easily. Football is like this… We are happy for these 3 fundamental points, it was fundamental to close the series of bad friendlies and give a signal to everyone”.
