Superagent Federico Pastorello reveals why Rasmus Højlund’s costs Man Utd a lot

Superagent Federico Pastorello has recently spoken about why Atalanta striker Rasmus Højlund is going to cost a lot to Manchester United.

The Dane is set to join United and he is likely to undergo a medical today, with the move expected to be confirmed this week. But there has been talk about the fee for the 20-year-old being very high, especially with the Atalanta man being compared to Erling Haaland rather unfairly.

As the talk buzzes on about the fee, super agent Pastorello spoke to Corriere della Sera about why Højlund costs United about striker €75million plus €10million in add-ons.

He said: “When Romelu Lukaku moved from Inter to Chelsea in 2021 for €115 million , he had scored 64 goals in two seasons and was 28, so he was in the prime of football maturity. Hojlund, on the other hand, is a twenty-year-old boy who still has everything to prove. If you take him, you don’t take a center forward but a center forward project. And, mind you, with a salary much lower than that of a big name.”

With Premier League awash with supreme financial resources, Pastorello also gave that as a reason for the Dane’s high asking price.

“The truth is that between television rights, stadium receipts and profitable tours, today the number of clubs that have dramatically increased their revenues and which can therefore afford wild shopping have multiplied.

“Before there were four or five throughout Europe, today there are many more. Let’s think of Sandro Tonali. He didn’t go to United or Liverpool, as would have happened just a few years ago, but to Newcastle. We are faced with a widespread wealth that does not only concern the Premier League: let’s think of Real Madrid, Bayern, PSG. Unlike Serie A where money is scarce and where we have to make do with ideas, there are many rich people abroad. With the consequence that on a global market level, demand largely exceeds supply , especially for certain specific roles, such as that of the central striker.”

While comparisons have been made between Haaland and Højlund, both happen to be very different types of strikers that offer different things to the team. Højlund offers huge promise to United, but also offers the potential that he can go on to become a €100 million footballer in the future.
