Napoli have set their sights on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, his agent confirmed.
Last season, Napoli loaned another Tottenham midfielder in the name of Tanguy Ndombélé, this summer they have set their sights on a different Spurs player. Giovanni Lo Celso, who spent the last 1.5 year on loan at Villarreal, is a target for the Partenopei, Calciomercato.com reports.
Tottenham would like to sell Lo Celso, while Napoli would prefer to loan him. The 27-year-old’s agent confirmed the interest to Radio Punto Nuovo:
“We are talking about it, but nothing’s been agreed yet at the moment.”
Seemingly, the departure of Piotr Zielinski is needed before Napoli will move for the Argentinian. Zielinski is well liked by some clubs in Saudi Arabia, as well as Lazio closer to home. Lo Celso would be the replacement of the Polish midfielder, who was an important asset for Luciano Spalletti’ Scudetto winning side.
It would leave Lo Celso with big shoes to fill. Last season in Spain, he scored 2 goals and gave 3 assists in 22 appearances.
